Marshfield girls tennis edges Wisconsin Rapids

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The Marshfield girls tennis team won two of the three doubles matches and two singles matches to squeak out a 4-3 victory over Wisconsin Rapids in a Wisconsin Valley Conference dual Tuesday at Lincoln High School.

All four of the Tigers’ victories came in straight sets as they improve to 2-1 in the WVC. Rapids is now 2-2.

Ashley Schultz (No. 1 singles), Cassie Strege (No. 4 singles), Emily Serchen and Olivia Haessly (No. 1 doubles), and Kessa Schreiner and Krishna Patel (No. 2 doubles) each won in straight sets for Marshfield.

The Tigers host Merrill at 4 p.m. Thursday in another WVC dual match.
