STRATFORD – Wausau Newman Catholic held off a comeback attempt by Stratford, cruising in the fourth game, to beat the Tigers 3-1 in a Marawood Conference South Division volleyball battle of early-season unbeatens on Tuesday at Stratford High School.
Newman won 26-24, 25-17, 23-25, 25-14, to move to 3-0 in the Marawood South. Stratford is now 1-1 in the conference.
Savannah Schillinger had 15 kills and seven digs, Mazie Nagel added seven kills, Jadyn Dahlke had 19 assists, and Valedia Crillo, MaKayla Krall and Nagel each had eight digs for Stratford.
The Tigers have a nonconference match at Owen-Withee on Thursday.
