MARSHFIELD – Luke McCann scored four times to lift the Marshfield boys soccer team to a 5-1 nonconference win over Holmen on Saturday at Griese Park.

The win is the Tigers’ third in a row and pushes their record back to .500 at 4-4-2. Holmen falls to 7-2.

Hunter McManus scored on an assists from Leo Steiner 4:39 into the game for Marshfield, and McCann added a goal on a penalty kick 8 minutes later to put the Tigers up 2-0.

McCann scored again 35 seconds into the second half on an assist from Klaus Friedli, and added a pair of goals in a 51-second span midway through the half to complete the scoring for the Tigers.

Avery Wellens assists on McCann’s final two goals.

“It was a good game today – boys are understanding more and more how to play as a unit,” Marshfield coach Steve McCann said. “Even when some of the passes aren’t executed correctly, they are looking to do the right thing.”
