STEVENS POINT – Marshfield senior Jordyn Fitzgerald shot a 96 to finish 10th and earn an individual qualifying spot for the sectionals at the WIAA Division 1 girls golf regional on Wednesday at Stevens Point Country Club.
Stevens Point won the team title with a score of 370, with Onalaska second with a 375. Tomah was third (382) and Sparta fourth (432). The top four teams in the regional, and top four golfers not on those two teams, qualify for the Division 1 sectional at Hiawatha Golf Course in Tomah on Monday.
Marshfield missed out on a team qualifying spot by five shots, finishing fifth with a 437.
Ana Jensen shot a 102, Patty Bloczynski had a 111 and Roma Shah had a 128 to round out the scoring for the Tigers.
Mary McDonald of Stevens Point was the meet medalist, firing an 80, to win by nine shots over Sydney Hubbard of Onalaska.
The top two teams and top three individuals not on those teams at the sectional will move on to the 2015 WIAA State Girls Golf Championships at University Ridge Golf Club in Verona on Oct. 12-13.
