CHIPPEWA FALLS – The Marshfield Columbus Catholic soccer team didn’t lose on Thursday, but the result leaves the Dons in a tough spot.
The Dons fought back to tie McDonell/Regis 1-1 in a Mid-State Soccer Conference game at Carson Park.
The tie, the second of the season between Columbus and McDonell/Regis, leaves the Dons at 11-0-3 overall and 8-0-3 in the MSSC with just one game – at home against Tri-County on Oct. 15 – left on their schedule. McDonell/Regis is 8-0-2 with two games remaining. The Macks host Northland Lutheran on Friday and Wausau Newman Catholic on Oct. 15. A win in both would give McDonell/Regis the conference title by just one point over Columbus Catholic.
After falling behind 1-0 in the first half, Nadim Torbey scored off an assist from Calvin Brown in the second half to tie the game for the Dons.
Bailey Keffer had eight saves in goal for Columbus.
The Dons host Gresham/Bowler in a nonconference game on Monday before wrapping up the regular season against Tri-County. Both games will be played at Griese Park and start at 4:30 p.m.
