WAUSAU – The Marshfield boys golf team had its top performance of the season, shooting a 331 to finish in a tie for fourth place Tuesday at a wet Trapp River Golf Course in the fourth leg of the seven-event Wisconsin Valley Conference Tournament.
Mike Field shot a 79 and Michael Josephson had an 81 for the Tigers, who tied with Rhinelander and finished two shots behind Wisconsin Rapids and seven off the lead shared by Wausau West and Stevens Point.
Brandon Brown had an 84 and Jake Plank shot an 87 to round out the scoring for Marshfield.
Josh Strum of Wausau West and Larry Wetzel of D.C. Everest shared the medalist spots after shooting 76s. Ryan Hofmeister of Stevens Point was third with a 77 and Field tied Rhinelander’s Josh Willis with 79s for fourth.
Leg No. 5 of the tournament is Friday at Rhinelander.
