WAUSAU – The University of Wisconsin-Marshfield/Wood County women’s basketball team earned a big road win Wednesday night, outlasting UW-Marathon County 58-56 in overtime.
Carrie Stroetz hit the game-winner at the buzzer to lead the Marauders to their second-straight win to start the season.
Karly Bump had a team-high 20 points and grabbed six rebounds to lead the Marauders. Allie Paitel added 14 points and 12 rebounds, and Stroetz ended up with 12 points and seven rebounds for UW-Marshfield.
The Marauders outscored Marathon County 16-12 in the fourth quarter to even things up before winning it in overtime.
Marshfield hosts UW-Waukesha at noon Saturday, followed by the men’s matchup at 2 p.m.
