Nekoosa sneaks past Columbus Catholic girls basketball

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The Marshfield Columbus Catholic girls basketball team came up short in the third-place game of the Cranberry Classic, falling 49-45 to Nekoosa on Saturday afternoon at Assumption High School.

Marissa Immerfall scored 16 points and had 10 rebounds in the loss for the Dons (1-2).

The game was tied 26-26 at halftime before Nekoosa pulled ahead.

Columbus was hurt by poor shooting as it made just 20 of 62 field goals and 2 of 11 free throws.

Shannon Sorbo had 26 points to lead the Papermakers (2-1).

Columbus opens its Cloverbelt Conference East Division schedule Thursday at Spencer.
