Auburndale boys basketball rolls past Athens in opener

ATHENS – Luke Olsen scored 13 points to lead four Auburndale players in double figures as the Apaches doubled up Athens 60-30 in a nonconference boys basketball game Thursday night at Athens High School.

The game was the season-opener for both teams.

Christian Firnstahl had 11 points, and Dylan Peplinski and Caleb Weinfurter each added 10 for the Apaches.

Auburndale raced out to a 33-15 lead by halftime and controlled the game the rest of the way.

Justin Kelly led Athens with 11 points.

Auburndale’s next game is Monday at Marshfield Columbus Catholic.
