SPENCER – The Spencer softball team took advantage of 12 walks to beat Augusta 14-2 despite collecting only three hits in Friday’s Cloverbelt Conference East Division game at ARC Park.
Spencer improves to 10-4 overall and 9-3 in the Cloverbelt, while Augusta drops to 0-11 overall and in conference play.
Nicki Bruss earned the win, allowing just two hits and one walk in five innings of work. She struck out three.
Bruss added a hit and two RBIs, Paige Johnson walked twice, had a single and scored three times, and Krystal Weier walked four times and scored four runs for the Rockets.
Spencer hosts Pittsville in a nonconference game on Tuesday.
