STRATFORD – Derrick Schmidt scored 27 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead the Stratford boys basketball team to a big 61-57 Marawood Conference South Division victory over Wisconsin Rapids Assumption on Monday night at Stratford High School.
Stratford (4-3, 2-1 Marawood South) trailed 27-20 at halftime before outscoring the Royals (3-4, 1-2 Marawood South) 41-30 in the second half.
Schmidt made 4 of 5 3-pointers and 6 of 9 shots from the field overall for the Tigers.
Ethan Nagel made all six of his free throw attempts and added 13 points and five rebounds for Stratford. Nick Stoflet dished out six assists and had a pair of steals as well.
Jacob Sullivan hit four 3-pointers and scored 12 points for Assumption.
Stratford’s next game is Dec. 29 at Abbotsford.
