Hot-shooting second half lifts Neillsville past Spencer boys basketball

NEILLSVILLE – Neillsville poured in 49 second-half points to sneak past Spencer 72-67 in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division boys basketball game Tuesday at Neillsville High School.

The Rockets led 33-23 at halftime before Neillsville erupted with a 49-34 second half to pull away.

Michael Dux scored 32 points and Jake Kunze added 16 points and seven rebounds for Neillsville (4-3, 4-1 Cloverbelt East).

Bobby Pilz had 27 points and Jonny Tomke added 14 points and eight rebounds for Spencer (3-3, 2-2 Cloverbelt East).

The Rockets shot just 34 percent (22 of 64) from the field.

Spencer is off until Jan. 5 when it plays at Gilman.
