Spencer boys basketball takes control early, tops Gilman

GILMAN – Spencer shot 54 percent from the field and exploded for 50 points in the first half to roll past Gilman 72-34 in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division boys basketball game Tuesday night at Gilman High School.

Bobby Pilz scored 21 points, Jack Bezlyk added 16 poitns and 11 rebounds, and Calvin Lenz added 15 points for the Rockets, who improve to 4-3 overall and 3-2 in the Cloverbelt East.

Gilman is now 0-8 overall and 0-7 in the conference.

Spencer rolled out to a 50-13 lead by halftime and held on from there, making 26 of 48 shots overall from the field and 6 of 15 shots from 3-point range. Pilz hit four of the 3-pointers in the win.

Spencer hosts Colby at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
