Marshfield girls basketball beats Merrill to improve to 11-1

MERRILL – The Marshfield girls basketball team won its fourth-straight game with a strong defensive performance as it topped Merrill 57-36 in a Wisconsin Valley Conference matchup Thursday night at Merrill High School.

Marshfield led 28-22 at halftime before stifling Merrill in the second half, holding the Bluejays to 14 points.

Ema Fehrenbach had 20 points and 12 rebounds, Meg Bryan had a career-high 16 points, and McKayla Scheuer added 12 points for the Tigers, who improve to 11-1 overall and remain perfect at 4-0 in the WVC.

Merrill is now 8-3 and 2-2 in the conference. Patience Pyan had 11 points to lead the Bluejays.

Bryan was 4 of 7 from 3-point range and added six rebounds. Hannah Meverden also had 11 rebounds for the Tigers.

Marshfield’s next game is Tuesday at home against D.C. Everest, which is also 4-0 in the Wisconsin Valley Conference.
