Free throws push Stratford girls basketball past Northland Lutheran

STRATFORD – Sammy Griesbach scored 13 points and Chelsey Gliniecki added 11 to lift the Stratford girls basketball team to a 39-30 victory over Northland Lutheran in a Marawood Conference South Division game Friday night at Stratford High School.

The Tigers struggled from the field, making just 14 of 54 shots, but were 10 of 13 from the free throw line to pull out the win. Stratford is now 10-3 overall and 4-3 in the Marawood South. Northland Lutheran drops to 5-10 and 1-6 in the conference.

The game was tied 15-15 at halftime before the Tigers pulled away in the second half thanks to their free throw shootings. The Tigers made all 10 of their free throw attempts in the second half, including a perfect 6-for-6 from Gliniecki.

Beka Edelburg had 11 points to lead Northland Lutheran.

Stratford hosts Wausau Newman Catholic on Tuesday.
