SPARTA – Tanner Kanable finished second for the Marshfield wrestling team’s best finish at the Sparta Invitational on Saturday.
Kanable (18-12) lost the 106-pound championship match to Carter Duerkop of Eau Claire North 4-0 to finish second for the Tigers.
Marshfield ended up 11th out of 21 teams in the standings with 82½ points. Spring Valley/Elmwood won the team title with 190 points, with Eau Claire North a distant second with 129.
Caden Pearce (126) and Nolan Hertel (138) finished fourth, Anthony Kanable (132) and Bentley Schwanbeck-Ostermann (145) were sixth, and Sam Mitchell (152) took seventh for Marshfield.
The Tigers’ next meet Thursday at home against Wausau East.
