MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield wrestling team wrapped up its regular-season schedule with a 67-9 rout of Wausau East in a Wisconsin Valley Conference dual Thursday night at Marshfield High School.
The Tigers won all but two matches to earn the team victory to finish the WVC season with a 3-3 record.
Caden Pearce (126 pounds), Anthony Kanable (132) and Nolan Hertel (138) earned pins for the Tigers.
Tanner Kanable (106) and Sam Bauman (195) won by major decision, and Caden Dennee (113) had a victory for Marshfield. The Tigers won six other matches by forfeit.
“Overall, I’m very happy with how we wrestled for our team tonight,” Marshfield coach Jackson Hein said. “This year has been a battle for this team, but they continue to work hard and they are always pushing each other to reach their goals. With only one senior in our line up, I am very excited to see what goals our wrestlers will achieve this year as a young squad as we start training for conference and the postseason.”
The Tigers are off until Feb. 6 when they take part in the Wisconsin Valley Conference Tournament at Merrill.
