WAUSAU – Marshfield only won three events but used its depth to earn an 85-85 tie with Wausau East in its final Wisconsin Valley Conference boys swimming dual meet of the season Thursday at East High School.
Brian Engel won the 100 freestyle in 53.40 seconds and the 100 backstroke in 1:05.07 for the Tigers. The team of Engel, Michael Kruse, Colin Thomasgard and Calden Wojt also took first in the 400 freestyle in 3:57.34 for Marshfield’s other victory.
Marshfield finishes the WVC regular season with a 3-4-1 dual meet record.
The Wisconsin Valley Conference Meet will be held Feb. 4 at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.
