AUBURNDALE – Wisconsin Rapids Assumption outscored Auburndale by nine points in the second half to pull out a 59-52 victory in a Marawood Conference South Division boys basketball game Friday night at Auburndale High School.
Auburndale led 31-29 at halftime but the Royals stormed ahead in the second half to earn the road win.
Assumption is now 8-7 overall and 5-3 in the Marawood South, while Auburndale falls to 3-10 and 1-7 in the conference.
Joe Grundhoffer had 21 points and Trevor Newton added 12 for Assumption.
Dylan Peplinski had 14 points and six rebounds for the Apaches. Collin Hawkins had nine rebounds and Luke Olsen had nine points and seven assists in the loss.
Auburndale hosts Neillsville in a nonconference game Tuesday.
