AUBURNDALE – Three Athens’ pitchers limited Auburndale to just two hits and the Bluejays’ bats took care of the rest in a 22-0 victory over the Apaches in a nonconference softball game Monday at Auburndale High School.
Sam Steinke threw three innings and allowed two hits to earn the win for Athens (15-3). Britt Ellenbecker and Taylor Literski finished it off with a shutout inning each.
Heather Schreiner was 3-for-5 with four runs and Steinke was 2-for-3 with a double, a triple and two runs scored to lead the Athens’ offense.
Auburndale pitchers Bailee Krajnik and Kimberly Kundinger combined to allow 15 hits and eight walks, and the Apaches (5-13) committed seven errors in the loss.
Auburndale hosts Marathon on Tuesday in a make-up game.
