HUDSON – The Marshfield boys swimming finished eighth out of 10 teams at the WIAA Division 1 sectional Saturday at Hudson High School.
Winners and the next-best 18 finishers in each event from across the state qualify for next week’s WIAA State Boys Swimming Championships in Madison on Feb. 20.
Marshfield did not have any state meet qualifiers.
Michael Kruse had the Tigers’ best individual finish, taking eighth in the 100 butterfly in 1:02.64.
Jacob Dick was 10th in the 200 IM (2:27.59) for Marshfield, which also had four 11th-place finishes – Brian Engel in the 100 backstroke (1:03.76) and 100 freestyle (53.42), Calden Wojt in the 50 freestyle (23.86), and Scott Thompson in the 100 breaststroke (1:12.74).
Marshfield’s 200 medley relay team of Engel, Thompson, Kruse and Wojt (1:50.83) and 400 freestyle relay team of Engel, Kruse, Colin Thomasgard and Wojt (3:43.07) each took seventh.
Eau Claire Memorial/North was the sectional team champion with 403.5 points, 47 better than second-place Hudson.
