Marshfield boys basketball team edges Rhinelander in OT

MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield boys basketball team stormed back from a nine-point deficit to force overtime and went on to defeat Rhinelander 45-43 in a nonconference game Tuesday night at Marshfield High School.

The Tigers trailed 22-19 at halftime and fell behind by nine points seven minutes into the second half before mounting a comeback to tie the game at 43-43.

Marshfield scored the only basket of the overtime and came away with its fifth win in a row to improve to 13-7. Rhinelander falls to 14-6.

Ethan Voss scored 12 points and Alec Hinson added 11 points for Marshfield, which shot just 34 percent (14 of 41), but made seven 3-pointers and was 10 of 13 at the free throw line.

Owen White had 17 points and 15 rebounds for the Hodags.

Marshfield plays at Wausau East on Friday. The game will be broadcast on WDLB-AM 1450 and wdlbwosq.com.
