WAUSAU – The Marshfield girls soccer team’s early-season offensive woes continued Tuesday as the Tigers dropped a 2-0 decision at Wausau West in its Wisconsin Valley Conference opener.

Wausau West scored a pair of goals in the second half to pull out the victory in its season-opener.

The Tigers played short-handed as two players didn’t dress and another was lost early in the game, coach Steve Lindner said.

“As the losses mount, the frustration starts to creep in and the coaching staff needs to do a better job keeping this in check. We have not had a lot of positives but need to dig deeper to get on the other side of some of these games.”

Andrea Carolfi had five saves in goal for the Tigers.

Marshfield falls to 1-5 overall and will play in the River Falls Quadrangular on Saturday against Menomonie and River Falls.
