CHIPPEWA FALLS – The Marshfield baseball team split a nonconference doubleheader with Chippewa Falls on Saturday, losing 6-1 and winning 11-10, at Casper Park.
In Game 1, Tyson Slade suffered the loss for the Tigers (2-4), allowing 12 hits and six runs in a complete-game effort.
Jared Klein went 4-for-4 with an RBI, and Paul Maguire and Hunter Korger each had two hits in the loss for Marshfield.
In the second game, the Tigers scored three runs in the second and five more in the third to take an 8-2 lead before Chippewa Falls fought back.
The Cardinals (3-1) scored four times in the fourth and added four more in the seventh before Marshfield got the final out to hang on for the win.
Korger struck out six and walked six to earn the win for Marshfield. He also scored twice.
Klein continued his hot hitting, going 3-for-5 with a double and four RBIs for Marshfield. Jake Brueggen went 3-for-3 and scored four times, and Trevor Schwecke had a pair of hits for the Tigers.
Marshfield hosts Mosinee in a nonconference game on Monday at Hackman Field.
