Marshfield boys golf ties for second at second leg of Wisconsin Valley Conference Tournament

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The Marshfield boys golf team had a strong finish as it tied for second at the second leg of the 2016 WVC Tournament on Tuesday at the Ridges Golf Course.

The Tigers tied Wausau East with a score of 349 for second, 27 shots behind first-place Stevens Point. Wausau West was a close fourth with a 350.

Marshfield remains in fourth in the overall team standings, just one-half point behind West and only one point out of second behind East.

Derek Michalski shot an 83 to take sixth place for the Tigers’ top individual score. Zach Hanson and Joe Kirschnik tied for 10th with 87s, Grant Michaelis added a 92 and Brendan Schneider shot a 97 to round out Marshfield’s scoring.

Max Bancker of Stevens Point was the meet medalist, shooting a 77.

The third of the seven-leg tournament is Friday at Stevens Point Country Club.
