Marshfield softball routs Wausau East in doubleheader sweep

MARSHFIELD – Lexi Dupee went a combined 5-for-6 with five RBIs and homered in both games of Marshfield’s doubleheader sweep of Wausau East on Thursday at the Marshfield Fairgrounds.

Marshfield won 17-0 in three innings and 14-3 in six innings.

The Tigers end their regular season with a 13-12 record and a 7-5 mark in the Wisconsin Valley Conference. Wausau East is now 2-16, 0-12 in the Valley.

Jenna Jakobi was 5-for-7 and hit a home run, and Megan Donahue was 3-for-3 with four RBIs in Game 1 and smacked a home run in Game 2 for Marshfield.

Marshfield scored 16 runs in the second inning of the opener to win in just 2 ½ innings.

Kaitlyn Konrardy struck out seven to win the second game, with Donahue striking out the side in both innings she pitched to earn the victory in Game 1.

Marshfield is the No. 7 seed in the Division 1 Sectional 1 bracket, and will host New Richmond in a WIAA regional semifinal on Wednesday. The winner plays at No. 2 Chippewa Falls on May 27.
