WISCONSIN DELLS – Four recent local high school graduates and an area coach were among the participants at the 2016 Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association State Senior All-Star Games on June 24-25 at Just-A-Game Fieldhouse.

Five divisional girls games were played on June 24 and five more boys games took place on June 25 in the annual event. Proceeds from the games, which included donations in the players’ names, benefitted the MACC Fund (Midwest Athletes Against Childhood Cancer).

Stratford coach Tammie Christopherson was an assistant coach for the Division 4 girls North team that rolled to an 81-54 victory over the South squad last Friday.

Christopherson helped lead a team that included one of her former players, Macie Frueh, and Auburndale graduate Taylor Gotz.

Frueh scored eight points, making a pair of 3-pointers, and grabbed three rebounds in 19 minutes. Gotz had six points and eight rebounds, also playing 19 minutes.

The D-4 girls North team also included Edgar’s Tiana Borchardt (11 points) and Marathon’s Morgan Rachu (nine points, 11 rebounds).

“It was a great honor to be asked to coach the Division 4 North all-stars,” Christopherson said. “We had an excellent group of very talented young ladies, and the MACC fund is a wonderful cause. Not only did the girls get to compete they also listened to a 19-year-old young lady speak about her struggles with cancer, they went to the Tommy Bartlett Show, took a jet boat ride, and wrapped the week up with a limo ride to the game on Friday.

“The Marawood conference was very well represented. Edgar, Auburndale, Marathon, and Stratford all had players on the D-4 North team and two Assumption players were on the D-5 North – a true testament to the quality and high level of competition in our conference. It was also very special to be a part of Macie Frueh’s last game as a high school senior.”

Marshfield senior McKayla Scheuer played for the Division 1 girls North team, and scored eight points in 17 minutes in a 73-55 victory. She made two 3-pointers and also grabbed four rebounds.

Marshfield Columbus Catholic’s Evan Nikolai scored seven points, and had two assists and two steals for the Division 5 boys North team, which lost to the South 80-64.
