RHINELANDER – The Marshfield girls swimming team won three events and were second in three others as it won the title at the Hodag Relay Meet on Saturday at Rhinelander High School.
The win for the Tigers is their first invitational title under second-year head coach Mary Holbrook.
Marshfield finished with 100 points, just two more than Rhinelander.
Marshfield’s 200-yard medley relay team of Sophie Koehn, Elizabeth Holbrook, Ryenne Zee and Megan Donahue was victorious with a time of 2:02.59, winning by less than 2 seconds.
Holbrook, Valerie Kushnir, Koehn and Zee took first in the 400 medley relay with a time of 4:39.93, and Koehn, Malina Barker and Donahue took first in the 300 backstroke relay in 3:29.53 for the Tigers.
Taking second for Marshfield were the 300 butterfly relay of Zee, April Read and Kushnir (3:33.13), the 500 decrescendo relay of Madi Hall, Elise Ashby, Kushnir, and Riya Bolander (5:58.52), and the 300 breaststroke relay of Holbrook, Grace Hilbelink, and Ashby (4:09.83).
Marshfield opens its Wisconsin Valley Conference schedule on Thursday at defending champion D.C. Everest.
