MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield boys soccer team won for the third time in its last four games with a 5-1 nonconference win over Rhinelander on Tuesday at Griese Park.
Luke McCann scored three times in the first half, Klaus Friedli had a goal and three assists, and Hunter McManus added a goal and two assists for the Tigers, who are now 7-5-3. Marshfield is 3-0-1 in the last four days.
Marshfield has its offense rolling again, outshooting Rhinelander 35-9 overall and 18-6 on goal, as it handed the Hodags their first loss of the season (6-1-1).
McCann scored in the 13th, 32nd, and 41st minute for Marshfield, which took a 3-0 lead into halftime.
After a Rhinelander goal, Friedli and McManus scored 24 seconds apart with less than 5 minutes to go to ice it.
Marshfield plays at Stevens Point at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Portage County Soccer Complex.
