Stratford’s Matt Griffith was a unanimous first-team selection to the all-Marawood Conference South Division baseball team, which was released this week.
Griffith led the Tigers with a .429 batting average, which was 11th in the South, and was fourth with 10 stolen bases.
Stratford seniors Josh Franklin and Josh Kolbeck were named to the second team, and Chris Newburry and Alex Kitchner were honorable mention picks.
Franklin hit .350 with a team-high 15 runs scored. Kolbeck batted .405 with 14 runs scored.
Newburry was 4-2 with a 4.20 earned run average and also batted .310 with 10 RBIs and 14 runs scored. Kitchner hit .382 with 12 runs scored and six stolen bases.
Auburndale’s Tony Altmann and Dave Altmann were honorable mention choices.
Tony Altmann hit .263 with a team-high six RBIs, and Dave Altmann batted .235 with four RBIs.
Marathon’s Cody Hanke was named player of the year after going a perfect 9-0 on the mound, allowing just two runs and one earned run (0.14 ERA) and striking out 76 in 51 innings.
Steve Warren of Marathon was named coach of the year after leading the Raiders to their fourth-straight Marawood South championship.
