Marshfield Columbus Catholic soccer player Nadim Torbey has been voted as the WDLB-WOSQ Radio & MarshfieldAreaSports.com October High School Athlete of the Month.
The High School Athlete of the Month Award is sponsored by Marshfield Clinic, Cost Cutters Family Hair Care and Burt Trophy & Awards.
Varsity athletes from the following high schools are eligible to be nominated for the award: Abbotsford, Athens, Auburndale, Colby, Columbus Catholic, Edgar, Granton, Greenwood, Loyal, Marathon, Marshfield, Neillsville, Owen-Withee, Pittsville, Spencer, Stratford and Thorp.
Torbey received 466 of the 886 votes cast during voting from Nov. 1-7.
Other nominees for the October award were Marshfield volleyball player Stephanie Rhodes, Edgar cross country athlete Marissa Ellenbecker, and Abbotsford football player Brock Halopka.
Torbey, a sophomore, had eight goals in October for the Dons, who finished off an undefeated Mid-State Soccer Conference championship season and reached the WIAA Division 4 sectional semifinals before losing to Arcadia on Oct. 27. Torbey had a goal in the sectional loss and a hat trick in a regional semifinal victory over Nekoosa on Oct. 20.
