MARSHFIELD – The University of Wisconsin-Marshfield/Wood County men’s basketball team improved to 2-0 this season with an 81-71 victory over UW-Marathon County on Wednesday at the Marauder Gym in its home opener.
Joseph Estrict had 22 points, 12 rebounds and nine assists, and Tyler Prust added 16 points for the Marauders (2-0 overall and Wisconsin Collegiate Conference West Division).
The Marauders shot a solid 51.7 percent (31 of 60) from the field and won despite committing 25 turnovers. Marshfield forced 23 turnovers of its own and had 21 steals, four from Estrict.
Andy Yang had 24 points to lead UW-Marathon County (1-1, 0-1 WCC West).
UW-Marshfield plays at UW-Waukesha on Saturday afternoon.
