STEVENS POINT – Stevens Point scored five unanswered goals during the first two periods and went on to beat Marshfield 9-1 in a Wisconsin Valley Conference boys hockey game Tuesday at K.B. Willett Ice Arena.
Stevens Point is now 5-0 overall and 2-0 in the Wisconsin Valley Conference, while Marshfield drops to 2-3 after losing its conference opener.
Stevens Point scored twice in the first period and three more times in the second to open up a 5-0 lead.
Ryan Krueger scored the Tigers’ only goal 1:12 into the third period, but the Panthers responded with four more goals to finish off the scoring.
Stevens Point outshot Marshfield 54-10, with Haydon Roy-Peterson recording 45 saves in goal for the Tigers.
Marshfield hosts Wisconsin Rapids on Thursday.
