NEENAH – The Marshfield wrestling team went a perfect 5-0 to win the Neenah Duals Invitational on Saturday at Neenah High School.
Marshfield beat Manitowoc 64-10, Two Rivers 42-27, Antigo 62-13, D.C. Everest 51-24, and Neenah 40-17.
Shane Westerhausen (106 pounds), Anthony Kanable (138), Nolan Hertel (145), and Bentley Ostermann-Schwanebeck (160) each went 5-0 for the Tigers.
Tanner Kanable (120), Caden Pearce (132), Alex Wehrman (152), Conner Peterson (195) and Sam Bauman (220) each contributed 4-1 days for Marshfield.
“I am incredibly proud of how we came out and executed from the first match until the last,” Marshfield coach Jackson Hein said. “The team stepped up big time at this tournament. We still have a ways to go, but it was a huge confidence booster for our wrestling team. The final team match-up came down to Marshfield and Neenah in the finals. Both teams were 4-0 in team dual meets prior to this match-up. We won a lot of tight matches in the Neenah dual, but we found a way to dominate the tournament by wrestling our style.”
Marshfield will wrestle at Stevens Point in a Wisconsin Valley Conference dual on Thursday.
