MARSHFIELD – Wausau West was too much for the Marshfield boys hockey team to handle as the Warriors climbed into a tie for first place in the Wisconsin Valley Conference with a resounding 9-0 victory Saturday night at the Marshfield Youth Ice Arena.
The Tigers had their mini two-game win streak snapped and fall to 4-8-1 overall and 0-4-1 in the WVC. West moves into a share of the conference lead with Stevens Point at 5-1 and is 12-2-1 overall.
West scored six times in the second period to take an 8-0 lead and put the game away.
Marshfield only had three shots on goal and goalie Haydon Roy-Peterson was peppered with 42 shots, including 23 in the first period alone.
Josh Bohlin scored five goals for the Warriors, including the first four in the opening 21 minutes of the game.
Marshfield hosts Stevens Point on Thursday at 7 p.m.
