MARSHFIELD – Three Marshfield wrestlers won by pin and two others by forfeit to key the Tigers to a 43-21 Wisconsin Valley Conference dual meet victory Thursday night over D.C. Everest at the Marshfield High School Fieldhouse.
Marshfield’s Chris Schmidt (112 pounds) earned a pin in just 53 seconds over Josh Berg. Josh Shupe (135) and Brad Dolezal (152) also recorded pins for the Tigers, who improved to 3-1 in WVC dual meets heading into a matchup with unbeaten Wisconsin Rapids at home next Thursday.
Rapids, the defending state champion and Wisconsin Valley Conference co-champion, whipped Wausau East 75-0 Thursday to improve to 3-0.
Toran Nieman (103), Daniel Barton (130), Torin Boernke (140) and Trenton Larson (160) won by decision, and Jordan Koranda (215) and Cale Schliesman (285) won by forfeit for the Tigers.
Dolezal, Barton and Koranda improved to 4-0 in Valley meets this season, while Boernke is now 3-0.
