MERRILL – Marshfield scored in each of the first six innings and held off Merrill 10-4 in a Wisconsin Valley Conference softball game Thursday.
The game, originally scheduled to be played in Marshfield, was moved to Merrill because the Marshfield Fairgrounds field was unplayable. The teams’ other WVC game, on May 9, will now be played in Marshfield.
Megan Donahue hit two home runs and drove in four to lead the Marshfield offense. She now has four home runs in five games this season.
Donahue also earned the win on the mound for the Tigers (4-1, 2-1 Wisconsin Valley Conference), striking out 10 and walking one. Only three of the six runs she allowed were earned.
Emily Draeger and Rhiannon Corozolla also hit home runs for Marshfield and were among the five Tigers that collected two hits, which also included Donahue, Jenna Jakobi and Morgan Nordbeck.
Marshfield hosts Eau Claire North in a nonconference game Monday.
