AUBURNDALE – Stratford blew open a tight game with seven combined runs in the fifth and sixth innings and went on to beat Auburndale 10-2 in a Marawood Conference South Division softball game Thursday at Auburndale High School.
Stratford is now 8-4 overall and 4-2 in the Marawood South. Auburndale drops to 5-5 and 2-3 in the conference.
Kiana Weiler threw a complete game to earn the win on the mound for the Tigers, striking out four and walking none. She also went 3-for-3 with two doubles and five RBIs to lead the offensive attack.
Sammy Griesbach added three hits and two RBIs, and was one of five Tigers to score twice in the win.
Hannah Bolder and Rachael Bolder each went 2-for-3 to lead the Apaches offensively.
Stratford pounded out nine hits and used eight walks from Auburndale’s two pitchers to plate 10 runs.
Auburndale plays at first-place Wisconsin Rapids Assumption on Friday. Stratford is back in action Saturday at the Bloomer Invitational.
