SCHOFIELD – Braden Bohman hit a lead-off home run in the first inning and the Marshfield bats woke up as the Tigers cruised past D.C. Everest 10-3 in a Wisconsin Valley Conference baseball game Thursday at D.C. Everest High School.

Marshfield, which had lost three games in a row, including a 2-0 shutout to Everest at home on Tuesday, scored eight runs in the first three innings and finished with nine hits in the win.

Jake Brueggen allowed one run in six innings and struck out six to earn the victory for Marshfield.

“It was nice to get a win after the stormy couple of games we just went through,” Marshfield coach Jon Bauer said. “We did a nice job executing offensively and defensively. Jake pitched very well to get the win. We need to keep up the good play moving forward.”

D.C. Everest (9-6, 5-3 Wisconsin Valley Conference) scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh before Jared Johnsrud extinguished the rally by getting the final two outs.

Bohman finished with a single, the home run, and four RBIs, and Jared Klein and Connor Jasurda each drove in two runs for the Tigers (5-6, 4-3 Wisconsin Valley Conference).

Marshfield will host its annual tournament this weekend. Antigo and Holmen play Friday at 5 p.m. at Reeths Field and the tournament will continue Saturday with six games. Marshfield will be playing a rare tripleheader with games against Holmen at 10 a.m., Antigo at 12:30 p.m., and Appleton West at 3 p.m.
