COLBY – Stratford will be sending eight individuals in 10 events and three relay teams to sectionals after competing at the WIAA Division 2 Colby Track & Field Regional on Monday at Colby High School.
Stratford’s A.J. Schoenfuss wno the 400 meters in 53.47 for the Tigers’ lone regional title, but Stratford had multiple other top-four performances.
The top four finishers in all events move on to the Division 2 sectional on Thursday at Medford. The top four finishers at sectionals qualify for the 2017 WIAA State Track & Field Championships at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse on June 2-3.
Six other Stratford boys earned top-four spots in seven individual events.
Hunter Hannan finished second in the discus (130 feet, 2 inches) and Jacob Leick was second in the high jump (5-11) for the Tigers.
The 1,600 relay team of James Heeg, Jacob Danen, David Marquardt and Schoenfuss was third in 3:37.58 and Parker Hoffman took third in the triple jump (39-1¾) as well for Stratford.
Cade Lehman finished third in the 1,600 (4:53.73) and fourth in the 3,200 (10:24.65), Danen was fourth in the triple jump (38-11¾), and Damon Weix was fourth in the 110-meter hurdles (17.04) to round out the sectional qualifiers for the Stratford boys.
On the girls side, Stratford’s Macie Schillinger will move on to sectionals in three events. She was third in the 400 (1:02.89) and the 800 (2:30.46), and joined Callie Lehman, Heather Greenberg and Alexi Lappe on the 1,600 relay that took fourth in 4:25.20.
Stratford will also be sending its 400 girls relay to sectionals after the team of Makayla Krall, Blaire Lindner, Lehman and Lappe took fourth in 55.21.
Lakeland swept the team titles at the regional.
