OSHKOSH – The Marshfield football team took a big step toward ending a three-year WIAA playoff drought with a 54-0 drubbing of Oshkosh North in a Valley Football Association game Friday at Titan Stadium.
The Tigers are now 4-3 overall and 3-3 in the VFA West. With a win at D.C. Everest on Oct. 6 or at home against Wausau West on Oct. 13, Marshfield would become playoff eligible. A pair of wins would guarantee a playoff berth.
Oshkosh North is now 0-7 overall and 0-6 in the VFA South.
Marshfield ripped off 31 points in the opening quarter of its dominating performance.
Brant Bohman had a 35-yard touchdown run and a 56-yard punt return for a score that bookended 3-yard TD runs by Ryan Krueger and Isaiah Baierl, and a 33-yard field goal from Mason Coffren.
The Tigers held Oshkosh North to just 56 total yards, and only 19 rushing.
Marshfield’s JV quarterback Joey Goettl threw an 8-yard TD pass to Caden Pearce and ran in from the 15 to finish off the scoring in the fourth quarter.
