MERRILL – The Marshfield girls swim team earned its first Wisconsin Valley Conference dual meet of the season, topping Merrill 90-80 on Thursday at Prairie River Middle School.
Kaitlin Alberts on the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:22.33, and Marshfield’s 400 freestyle relay team of Sophie Koehn, Alyssa Franks, Hope Risa and Erika Roeglin won in 4:09.71 as the Tigers won the final two events to secure the victory.
Marshfield won five other events. The Tigers’ 200-yard medley relay team of Koehn, Alberts, Risa and Roeglin won in 2:09.00, Alberts took first in the 100 butterfly (1:08.84), the 200 freestyle relay team of Alberts, Elizabeth Lecker, Ariel Fernandez and Franks won in 1:58.96, and Koehn won the 100 backstroke in 1:08.97.
Marshfield (1-3) will finish its Wisconsin Valley Conference season next week with home meets Monday against Wisconsin Rapids and Oct. 12 against Wausau West.
