STRATFORD – The Stratford volleyball team is regional champions after sweeping Abbotsford 3-0 in a WIAA Division 3 regional final Saturday afternoon at Stratford High School.
The Tigers won 25-16, 25-15, 25-23, to advance to next week’s sectionals.
Stratford moves on to a sectional semifinal Thursday, Oct. 26, against Athens at Auburndale High School. The match will begin at 7 p.m. Oconto will take on Neenah St. Mary Catholic in the other semifinal, with the winners playing in the sectional final Saturday, Oct. 28, at Athens.
The sectional champion moves on to the 2017 WIAA State Girls Volleyball Tournament at Resch Center in Green Bay on Nov. 2-4. Stratford has never made it to the state tournament.
Mazie Nagel had 14 kills and 15 digs, Makayla Krall added 10 kills and 12 digs, and Jadyn Dahlke had 17 assists and 12 digs for Stratford. Brooke Peterson had a team-high 26 assists as well for the Tigers.
