AUBURNDALE – Auburndale shot 61 percent from the field and drilled 11 3-pointers as it rolled to a 66-32 victory over Loyal in a semifinal of the Auburndale Holiday Boys Basketball Tournament on Thursday night at Auburndale High School.
Cooper Weinfurter scored 13 points to lead four Apaches in double figures. Colton Wright added 12 points, and Cameron Ertl and Cale Jacoby each had 11 in the victory.
Wright, Ertl and Weinfurter combined to make 9 of 17 shots from 3-point range, and Fletcher Raab went 2-for-2 from long range.
Auburndale (6-2) raced out to a 37-17 lead by halftime and held Loyal (4-3) to just 15 points in the second half to win by 34.
Auburndale will play Augusta in the championship game of the tournament at 7:30 p.m. Friday. Augusta topped Weyauwega-Fremont 84-44 in the other semifinal.
