STEVENS POINT – Barrett Brooks, Dayne Hoyord and Devon Blaes each scored twice to lift Stevens Point to a 6-1 win over Marshfield in a Wisconsin Valley Conference boys hockey game Thursday at K.B. Willett Arena.
Hoyord added two assists and Spencer Wierzba saved 17 of 18 shots for the Panthers, who pull one-half game ahead of Wausau West for first place in the WVC at 6-1 (17-2 overall).
Nick Urban scored Marshfield’s only goal, off an assist from Adam Maki, on a power play at the 10:31 mark of the second period, cutting the Panthers’ lead to 2-1.
Stevens Point responded with four unanswered goals over the final 20 minutes.
Marshfield drops to 9-9 overall and 0-6 in the Valley. The Tigers host Wisconsin Rapids on Tuesday.
