STRATFORD – The Stratford boys basketball team overcome a tough shooting night with a strong defensive performance and defeated Abbotsford 63-40 in a Marawood Conference crossover game Friday night at Stratford High School.
The Tigers shot just 35 percent (24 of 67) and were only 4-for-23 from 3-point range, but held Abbotsford in check on their way to the victory.
Stratford is now 11-3 overall and 7-3 in the Marawood South. Abbotsford drops to 6-7 and 4-6 in the Marawood North.
Benjamin Barten had 17 points and 14 rebounds, which included 7 of 10 at the free throw line, and Okley Wrensch added 10 points for Stratford.
Stratford plays at Edgar on Tuesday.
