Dominant second half lifts Columbus Catholic boys basketball past Greenwood

GREENWOOD – The Marshfield Columbus Catholic boys basketball team clinched at least a share of its third-straight Cloverbelt Conference East Division championship with a resounding 77-48 win over Greenwood on Tuesday night at Greenwood High School.

Greenwood led 33-32 at halftime before the Dons dominated the second half, outscoring the Indians 45-15.

Nick Malovrh and Noah Hansen each scored 18 points, Bryce Fuerlinger added 12, and Jarred Mandel had 11 for Columbus Catholic, which is now 17-2 overall and remains perfect at 14-0 in the Cloverbelt East.

Greenwood drops to 6-13 and 3-11 in conference play.

Columbus Catholic can wrap up sole possession of the conference title with a win Friday in its regular-season home finale against Loyal. The Dons finish their conference schedule Monday at Neillsville, which is 12-2 in conference play after beating Spencer on Tuesday.
