SPENCER – Spencer shot 62 percent from the field and had three players score in double figures as it defeated Cadott 61-54 in a Cloverbelt Conference boys basketball fifth-place crossover game Thursday night at Spencer High School.
The Rockets made 23 of 37 shots from the field, led by Jack Bezlyk and Nate Karau, who combined to make 15 of 21 shots. Bezlyk finished with 23 points, Karau added 12, and Collin Nieman chipped in 11 in the victory.
Spencer led 29-16 at halftime and held off Cadott the rest of the way.
Both teams finish the regular season with 11-11 record.
Spencer opens WIAA playoff action with a Division 4 regional quarterfinal at home against Athens on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
