Marathon boys basketball player Nathan Stoffel has been voted as the WDLB-WOSQ Radio & MarshfieldAreaSports.com March High School Athlete of the Month.
The High School Athlete of the Month Award is sponsored by Cost Cutters Family Hair Care and Burt Trophy & Awards.
Varsity athletes from the following high schools are eligible to be nominated for the award: Abbotsford, Athens, Auburndale, Colby, Columbus Catholic, Edgar, Granton, Greenwood, Loyal, Marathon, Marshfield, Neillsville, Owen-Withee, Pittsville, Spencer, Stratford and Thorp.
Stoffel received 49 percent of the 2,550 votes cast.
Other nominees for the March award were Marshfield track athlete Adam Elhendy-Gunnarsson, Marshfield Columbus Catholic boys basketball player Nick Malovrh, and Spencer track athlete Aaron Pankratz.
Stoffel, a junior forward, scored in double figures in five-straight playoff games as Marathon made a run all the way to the WIAA Division 4 state championship game before losing to Manitowoc Roncalli. Stoffel scored 23 points in a regional semifinal against Stevens Point Pacelli on March 3, matching his season high. He scored 21 points in the Raiders’ sectional championship game victory over Shiocton on March 10, and scored 18 points and had 11 rebounds in a state semifinal win over Clear Lake. He finished with 14 points and nine rebounds in the loss to Roncalli.
The winner of the WDLB-WOSQ Radio & MarshfieldAreaSports.com High School Athlete of the Year will be announced Monday, July 10.

Stoffel joins Columbus Catholic boys soccer player Nadim Torbey (September), Marshfield cross country runner Joseph McKee (October), Marshfield boys basketball player Seth Anderson (November), Auburndale boys basketball player Cale Jacoby (December), Marshfield boys hockey player Ryan Krueger (January), and Owen-Withee girls basketball player Jennifer Wendler as winners of the award during the 2017-18 school year.
