Marshfield boys tennis opens season with win over D.C. Everest

MARSHFIELD – Marshfield won all three doubles matches and went on to defeat D.C. Everest 5-2 in its season and Wisconsin Valley Conference opener on Thursday at the Boson Courts.

Marshfield’s No. 1 doubles team of Jared Cordova and Braedon Corteen needed three sets to beat Danny Cornish and Preston Pagel, 6-1, 6-7, 6-2.

The Tigers’ No. 2 doubles team of Will Fay and Ayush Shukla, and the No. 3 team of Craig Paulman and Lucas Paulman, both won 6-0, 6-0.

Evan Fait won at No. 1 singles, 6-1, 4-6, 6-3, and Sam Haessly came back to win at No. 2 singles 2-6, 7-5, 6-2, for Marshfield’s other two victories.

Marshfield’s next scheduled match is Tuesday at home against Holmen.
